Saginaw Valley Men’s Golf is one of the best teams in the country

After looking up the golf rankings of top NCAA teams, the usual suspects are in the top-25 in Division I. Then Division II popped up and there it is. A gem of a team is one of the best DII teams in the country. As a matter of fact, there are two. Saginaw Valley State University is ranked as the number four team in DII and Wayne State University is not far behind them. Paced by back-to-back GLIAC men’s player of the week Drew Coble, Saginaw Valley is using the team concept to grind out wins in the winter/spring 2024 season.

Paced by Coble, the senior from Lake Orion has been playing up a storm for the ten-man team coached by first year coach Gareth Lappin is going into their final spring tournament of the 2024 season before playing in the GLIAC conference tournament in mid-April.

The ten team members will be competing against team members to make the slots to have their scores counted in both the Partridge Invitational and the GLIAC. Wayne State University is right behind the Lakers in the Midwest rankings published by the NCAA.
